Those who know me best know that the 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner, is my favorite film of all time. So when I found out a few years back that there would be sequel produced, over 30 years later, I was more than a little excited. What was the most surprising thing about the sequel however, is the fact that I loved Blade Runner 2049 just as much, if not a little more, than the original.
For starters, they absolutely nailed the tone of the first film. 2049 nailed the look, and the feel, and, most importantly to me, the music. The Blade Runner soundtrack is the reason I love the original film so much, and though I was a little unsure about the decision to put Hans Zimmer at the helm for the sequel, my concerns were quickly put to rest once the movie began. Hans Zimmer took everything great about the Vangelis score and put it on steroids.
In fact, that's a great way to describe Blade Runner 2049 as a sequel, in general. It kept everything fans loved about the original, and took it aggressively to the next level. So, I knew I had to get to work on a remix for the film as soon as it came out on Blu Ray. And that I did. I worked every single day on the remix until it was complete, and I am absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out.
Of course, I owe much to my brother, Paul, for his contribution on guitar and bass guitar for the chorus, and to the entire cast and crew of Blade Runner 2049 for making such a gorgeous and well put together film. For what I do with movies, remixing 2049 was like painting a picture with the best paints on Earth.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my remix as much as I enjoyed making it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and, until next time, dominate life.
