Tombstone, in case you are not familiar with the film, is a western released in 1993 starring Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer, along with a long list of A and B-list actors from the 80's and 90's. It is a masterpiece, one of my favorite movies of all time, and one of the best westerns ever made. When my brother and I recorded the music that became the foundation of this remix, we both agreed it would be the perfect music for Tombstone.
The biggest challenge in constructing this remix was choosing the lines not to include. The movie is basically filled with amazing, highly quotable, lines that range from badass to hilarious. At the end of the day I had to go with the lines that told the story of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday the best. The two heroes of the film (and real life), played by Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer, essentially have to ban together with a small group of gunslingers against a gang of lawless cowboys who maintain wealth and power through violence against the innocence.
So the song and music video is basically focusing on Doc Holiday and his rivalry with Johnny Ringo, a notoriously fast and deadly gunslinger and outlaw, and Wyatt Earp and his vendetta against the "Cowboys", which was the name for the gang of outlaws in the film. Wyatt and Doc have a tremendously strong friendship and loyalty to one another, and I use the lines and scenes about their friendship to unite the two themes into a cohesive song. Or at least that was my goal.
Give the video a watch and let me know what you think. If you haven't seen Tombstone, definitely consider watching it. It is a truly outstanding movie. What movie should I remix next? Go ahead and let me know in the comments! Thanks for stopping by, and until next time, dominate life!
